Why School never teach us about money?

I always hit myself when l think of all the money mistakes l made. Damn! If only this was taught in school, l wouldn’t have made some stupid money decisions.
Who has me in this one?

The question is, “Why does our school system not teach us about this important topic in our lives?” This is the major reason that pushed me to write my first book titled “What school never taught my daughter”.
In this book you will find many financial literacy lessons which as an adult you can find handy or you can give it your children so that they can learn the money basics and understand the money language.
From all the money mistakes l made, l learnt to understand that money is energy and we need to form a healthy relationship with it so that we can be able to take care of it. Money only understands one language, which is, “if you take care of it, it will also take care of you”.
Many people  have a misconception when it comes to our money as we think material things show real wealth and we end up using debt as an extension to our income so that we can fit in the society. What are we missing here?
Understanding the principles of money will help us to overcome this and the earlier we start working on it, the better. It will bring a difference in our tomorrow and the future generations. We can’t expect change if we continue to do the same mistakes. Its time to start getting it right with our money.

Here are a few tips on how you can get it right with your money;
  •  Understand your relationship with money – this will help in understanding what triggers your habits towards your money.
  • Live within your means – don’t try to imitate the life of your neighbor, understand that we are all in different phases in our lives.
  •  Normalize money talks in your families and circles – the reason why many people are in debt is because they are not honest enough of their financial issues with  people close to them.
  •  Have a plan and give direction to your money – l love this quote which says “what gets measured, gets done”. If you know how much you are bringing in and understand how much you need for your future and day to day expenses, that can help you when it comes to your money matters.
